Business Systems Analyst

Description:
Reporting to the IT Manager, a Business Systems Analyst must have a broad understanding of business and information technology, including data networks and database management. He or she must be able to perform analysis, programming and application development tasks associated with an Enterprise Resource Planning System and support in-house developed software applications while working with appropriate external resources to achieve desired goals.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all server installed application related software (production and test environments), server configurations, bundle/patch management and database monitoring/tuning.
• Responsible for maintaining a “trouble free” production environment.
• Responsible for testing and implementing software and hardware relating to the new ERP and WMS system
• Design complex queries using structure query language (SQL) and AS/400 query.
• Conduct analysis activities, design application systems and integrate different computer systems.
• Responsible for producing and delivering high quality, fully tested database services on schedule, within prescribed resource limits, and in accordance with client requirements and departmental standards.
• Stay abreast of trends and new products and services in the Information Technology industry, and their application in our environment.
• Provide mentoring to junior staff.
• Periodic responsibilities include special projects as required to meet departmental and institutional needs.
• Ability to work in a high-pressure environment as well as “long hours”.

Position Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree is highly desirable in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• 5 + years of work experience.
• 3+ years experience with IBM AS400 system and Windows Server 2003 Environment
• At least 18 months experience in other facets of database administration – installation, performance tuning, backup and restores, disk configurations, and upgrades.
• Demonstrated strong leadership skills
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Strong program analysis, design and coding skills.
• Must be able to work at both a conceptual and detail level.
• Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.
• Background in Information Systems with additional professional training in areas of primary function.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Must be willing to relocate
