The National Infrastructure Development Company Limited (NIDCO) is a Special Purpose State Enterprise, which was established by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to manage the delivery of assigned infrastructure projects in the drainage and flood control, reclamation, highway and transportation sectors. NIDCO is expanding its team of professionals and is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals to work in the following position:

PROJECT OFFICER

Job Summary:

The Project Officer will be responsible, under the direct supervision of the Project Director, Rapid Rail, for managing assigned activities of the project office. He/she will assist in the preparation of project proposals, briefs and specifications, and draft terms of references as required. The Project Officer works in consultation with the Project Director to ensure the success of the entire project cycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Director Rapid Rail in planning and implementing the activities of the project. The Project Officer will manage the NIDCO TRRP project team; prepare project proposals, user briefs and specifications for the project.

  • Assist in overseeing the work of the programme management consultant and other consultants at each phase of the project.
  • Check and verification of invoices from Contractors and Consultants.
  • Draft terms of reference and securing a suitable budget for additional consultants as required.
  • Assist with the planning and preparation of budget and financial reports.
  • Responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Trinidad Rapid Rail Project, ensuring quality, schedule, cost schedules and document control procedures are followed.
  • Ensure that institutional assets are effectively and efficiently used in the public interest, and that state property is appropriately protected.
  • Perform any other project related tasks may be required by the Project Director, Rapid Rail.

Education, Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • A relevant University degree preferably in Management or Project Management with at least five (5) years experience in project formulation and implementation.

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Primavera or a recognised Project Management application.
  • Experience in any of the Project Management, Engineering, Planning and Development, or Construction fields.
  • Any equivalent combination of qualifications, training and experience.
