The South-West Regional Health Authority is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following position:
PATIENT CARE CO-ORDINATOR
The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for supervision and management of the nursing activities in a hospital/institution in order to ensure the maintenance of standards and quality assurance of patient/client care. He/She is also responsible for coordinating nursing activities with other activities of the department for the achievement of program objectives. He/She will also participate in the preparation of therapeutic programmes for the rehabilitation of patients/clients.
This officer will be required to transmit policies and interpret their implications to subordinates. Duties also involve conducting Unit conferences/meetings to enhance the performance of staff and effective management of the Unit. He/She will also participate in the orientation and in-service education of nursing personnel and other health care workers.
REQUIREMENTS AND TRAINING:
- A Certificate in General/Psychiatric Nursing from an approved school.
- Post Basic Nursing qualification supplemented by an approved course in Management.
- At least five (5) years experience as a Senior Nurse/Head Nurse will be an asset.
- Registration with the Nursing Council of Trinidad and Tobago for the current year.
- Supervisory Management skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Any relevant combination of training and/or experience.
