Key Responsibilities:

  • Confers with technical and end users to assess their needs and recommends modifications and/or additions to existing programs.
  • Consults with end users to assess data preparation and management needs, program design and testing, package selection and the use of system support programs.
  • Design, evaluates, codes, installs, tests, and maintains computer programs and application packages.
  • Provides end user training for various system applications.
  • Prepares test data and trial runs in test environments.
  • Develops and maintains system and user documentation of all systems developed and/or supported.
  • Determines and reconciles causes of computer or program malfunctions.
  • Keep abreast of trends as they relate to the information technology field by self study.

The Person:
The ideal candidate must have:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Techology, Computer Science, or a computer related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years full-time experience in application programming; with at least two (2) years experience designing and developing Oracle-based applications in a UNIX environment (in depth knowledge of Oracle tools such as forms, PL/SQL and Report).
  • Programminng in Pro C and MS Access and experience with the BANNER application will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation, training and support.
  • High level of self-motivation, reliability and flexibility.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work in a collaborate manner with all stakeholders.
