Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following contract positions for a period of two (2) years.

LEGAL ASSISTANT, MINISTRY OF TOURISM

CORE FUNCTION:
The successful candidate will provide administrative and secretarial support to the Legal Officer in an environment that requires absolute confidentiality.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Type agreements, contracts, leases, legal opinions and other relevant documents
  • Prepare and/or generate routine correspondence such as letters, memoranda, forms and reports
  • Assist in researching and extracting information as requested
  • Screen incoming calls and visitors to determine priority matters
  • Respond to routine request for information from employees or external customers
  • Maintain a litigation calendar as may be required
  • Assist in maintaining a contracts’ database
  • Maintain an effective filing system
  • Provide matters for inclusion in the Legal Division’s monthly reports
  • Co-ordinate and schedule appointments for the Legal Division
  • Perform other related functions as assigned

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) GCE 0 Level passes
  • Two-Three years’ Experience in a legal word environment
  • Knowledge of the provisions of the Tourism Development Act and Regulations
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Efficient Note-taking skills
  • Strong Administrative and Organizing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and meet tight deadlines
  • High levels of motivation with the ability to work in a demanding and changing environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
