The Ministry of Local Government invites applications from suitably qualified persons for employment on contract, for a period of two or three years in the under-mentioned positions.

SYSTEM SPECIALIST (1 position)

Responsible for formulating, implementing and monitoring systems’ policies and strategies to ensure stability, integrity, availability and security of all systems operations. Also responsible for designing developing and managing disaster recovery plans.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Formulates, implements and monitors systems policies and strategies for the Ministry.
  • Ensures the stability, integrity, availability and security of all systems operations.
  • Configures system and network parameters to ensure that appropriate and current trends and technology are maintained.
  • Designs, deploys and manages disaster recovery plans.
  • Develop and maintains standards for system access and account privileges.
  • Develops and implements training strategies for end users.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Extensive knowledge in hardware and network operating systems.
  • Ability to design, deploy and manage disaster recovery plans.
  • Ability to develop websites would be an asset.
  • excellent oral and written communication skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science and at least four (4) years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, experience in Windows 2003 Server and Exchange 2000. Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
