The Ministry of Local Government invites applications from suitably qualified persons for employment on contract, for a period of two or three years in the under-mentioned positions.
NETWORK SPECIALIST (1 position)
Responsible for managing the day to day operations, addressing immediate and critical issues for the Local Area and Wide Area Network of the Ministry.
KEY DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES
- Researches, develops, and implements network security policies.
- Maintains clients/server Network.
- Analyses and provides performance tuning for networks; keeps the operating system current with releases and necessary system patches. Keeps software current through adding and removing application resources, installing upgrades and understanding the security structure and reasoning behind levels of access.
- Monitors daily administration of LANs and WAN, including systems stability, integrity and troubleshooting.
- Develops systems to protects the integrity and accessibility of data through system policies and best practices.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Extensive knowledge of current networking principles and practices.
- Ability to manage and coordinate complex technical networking issues.
- Experience in the management of large complex networked environment.
- Working knowledge of Wide and Local Area Network Administration and communication protocol.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or related field. At least three(3) years progressive experience in an IT environment. At least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity within a heavily networked modern environment any equivalent combination of experience and training.
