VACANCY
Applications are invited from suitably qualified nationals of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to fill, on contract, the following positions in the Customs and Excise Division, Ministry of Finance for a period of two (2) years.

ONE (1) DATABASE SPECIALIST
Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Experience with design and implementation in a wide array of database environments (Oracle, Informix, MySQL, MS SQL).

• Develops and documents standards for use, control, updating and maintenance of databases.
• Performs database capacity planning.
• Conducts database systems performance monitoring, tuning and troubleshooting activities.
• Develops and deploys database security and recovery strategies.
• Develops strategies for training end users in the effective use of database management system.
• Maintains appropriate and current knowledge of IT trends and technology.
• Ensures 24/7 operation.

Required Knowledge, Training and Experience

• Recognized Degree in Computer Science. Must possess considerable experience in data processing operations including experience in systems analysis and design, or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

• Three (3) years working knowledge of ORACLE Data-base (ESQL Programming/Administration) in a UNIX/LINUX environment.
• Knowledge of database management systems including storage, structure, data models, report-writers, query languages and schemas.
• Excellent database performance tuning and capacity planning skills.
• Ability to work productively in teams.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Certification s an Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) is an asset.

TERMS AND CONTDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary, allowances and other terms and conditions of employment are to be negotiated with the Chief Personnel Officer, Personnel Department.
